COVID-19 has posed some unique challenges for my massage practice. According to the CDC, COVID-19 is spread through close contact via aerosol droplets that we breathe in and out, especially in small spaces. Because massage requires close contact for a prolonged period of time and the virus ebbs and flows in our community, I implement the following protocols:
1. I wear a well-fitted KN95 mask. I am no longer requiring it of clients, but I welcome it, especially in the face-up position. You may wear a mask if you like. During cold and flu season I may request you wear a mask.
2. Appointments are not scheduled within one week of travel (airline or populated tourist destination).
3. If you or anyone in your household have any respiratory, cold, or flu symptoms (including sore throat), or any close exposure within a week of your massage, please stay home. There are no penalties for last-minute cancellations due to illness or exposure.
4. I schedule appointments with enough time in between to thoroughly clean surfaces in my treatment room with disinfectants that target COVID-19.
5. I run a portable HEPA air purifier all day in my massage room.
Thank you for understanding and for doing your part to stay well. I don't get paid for sick days, and I stay home if I have symptoms so that I don't pass anything on to you.
